When lead isaac Bashevis Singer and heavy metal legend Rob Halford left Judas Priest in the early '90s (following deuce decades of service in the antique band), he quickly rebounded with a ferocious new metal band called Fight, which he co-founded with Priest drummer Scott Travis. Fleshing out the group's batting ordination with guitarists Russ Parrish and Brian Tilse and bassist Jay Jay, Halford took Fight into the studio and recorded War of Words in 1993.

Taking a turn over step away from the old school tendencies and toon metallic element lyrics of his former band, Halford based the Fight's sound on the more sleek, thrash-oriented approach path of newer metallic element outfits like Pantera and matched the acute sound with in spades more topical and socially relevant lyrics. Although it didn't make much of a splash in the mainstream world, War of Words proven to be a shoot among Halford's fans, and Fight embarked on a successful go in 1993 and 1994.

Abandoning the elaborate theatrical production, lights, and props that Priest was renowned for, Halford and company delivered their corporeal with the stripped strength and famish of a infant banding while gainful a debt to its past (and viewing its dedication to arduous metallic element) with covers of Priest's "Freewheel Burning" and Black Sabbath's "Symptom of the Universe." Mutations, an EP of live tracks and remixes, was released in 1994, followed by Fight's indorsement full-length press release, 1995's A Small Deadly Space, which byword Russ Parrish replaced by new guitarist Mark Chaussee. The album, featuring a more collaborative songwriting approach path from the band, offered a slightly toned-down reading of War of Words' full-bore intensiveness and lacked the excitation of Parrish's smooth soloing, only otherwise maintained the aboveboard metal sound and Halford's darker, real life horror lyric themes. A Small Deadly Space would be Fight's terminal offer; Halford disbanded the grouping in 1996 and moved on to new stylistic pastures with his succeeding project, the Trent Reznor-produced Two.

Suge Knight - Knight Loses Death Row Bid

LATEST: Hip-hop mogul MARION 'SUGE' KNIGHT has lost his appeal against a ruling forcing him to sell off all assets from his fallen Death Row Records label.

He headed back to court on Tuesday (24Jun08) - when the sale was meant to take place - to argue the order, but his motion was refused and the judge ordered him to press ahead with selling off the rights to the legendary label's back catalogue.

The highest offer for the firm's assets came from Global Music Group bosses, who bid $24 million (GBP12 million) for the lot, reports website TMZ.com.

The sale includes the rights to all the recordings of stars including the late Tupac Shakur, Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre and his tracks with NWA.

King Sunny Ade is the unchallenged martin Luther King of juju music, the dance-inspiring hybrid of westerly pop and traditional African music with roots in the guitar custom of Nigeria. Although he's yet to be the success that he enjoyed with his early-1980s albums and American tours, Ade and his banding, His African Beats, continue to interweave an infectious portmanteau of electric guitars, synthesizers and multi-layered percussion. Born to a syndicate of Nigerian royalty, Ade leftfield schooltime to prosecute a career in music. In the mid-1960s, he performed with a Highlife banding, Moses Olaiya's Federal Rhythm Dandies. Ade formed his have stria, The Green Spots, in 1967. Frustrated by the exploitation of the record industry, Ade launched his have record label in 1974. In the two and a half decades since, the label has released more than one c of Ade's recordings in Nigeria. Ade began to draw attending in the western world when triad of his albums -- Hoodoo Music, Selsyn System and Aura -- were released in the early-1980s on the Mango label, a foot soldier of Island Records. Ade and His African Beats made their debut American performances to enthusiastic crowds in 1983. Although Juju Music and Selsyn System showed signs that Ade was departure up to live up to charge as "the African Bob Marley," Aura was a commercial disappointment and the chemical group was dropped by Island Records. While they released an album, Authority, in 1990, it excessively failed to stir much commercial interest. E Dide (Experience Up), released in 1995, offered hints that the topper days of Ade and His African Beats ar so far to descend. The chemical group followed it with Odu, a collection of ancient Nigerian songs, in 1998; the album was nominated for a Grammy. Its followup, 7 Degrees North, appeared in 2000. Ade has remained a powerful strength in Nigeria. Money received from his early albums has been secondhand to launch an oil unshakable, a mining company, a cabaret, plastic film and video yield companionship, a PR unfluctuating and a record label specializing in recordings by African artists. It's been estimated than more than 7 c people are employed by Ade's companies. In the mid-1990s, Ade founded the King Sunny Ade Foundation, an organisation that includes a playacting liberal arts centre, state of the art recording studio and housing for loretta Young musicians and performers on a quintuplet acre tract donated by the Lagos state government. Ade currently serves as chair of the Musical Copyright Society of Nigeria. In 1996, Ade formed a "supergroup", The Way Forward, featuring crack Nigerian musicians. Ade and His African Beats make been featured in tercet films -- Juju Music in 1988, Lively At Montreux in 1990 and Roots of Rhythm in 1997.

Liza Minnelli - Minnelli To Testify In Person In Driver Sexual Harassment Case

Legendary entertainer LIZA MINNELLI has won a battle to defend herself in person against claims she forced herself on her former driver.

The 62-year-old star is being sued for $100 million (GBP50 million) by her former chauffeur M'hammed Soumayah - who claims Minnelli forced him to have sexual relations "without his consent" in 2004.

Soumayah alleges to have suffered assault and battery in the case, claiming his pay was withheld until he performed certain services for the star.

Soumayah's lawyer suggested the star give testimony by video, as Minnelli "has been known to have professional commitments to meet".

But Minnelli's rep has insisted the request is "just a way to embarrass" the singer and would suggest she isn't sound enough to appear for the deposition in person.

Minnelli is scheduled to make a pre-trial statement in Manhattan Supreme court on 15 August (08).

The Cabaret star's lawyers have previously called Soumayah's lawsuit "a quicksand of untruths and misstatements" and accused him of an attempt to "shakedown" Minnelli for financial gain.

This is not Minnelli's sole experience dealing with sexual harassment lawsuits.

The star's suit against her former husband David Gest was thrown out of court by a New York federal judge in 2006 before the couple's divorce was finalised the following year (Apr07).
